Postpartum 5k PR and The Thousand Workout

One of my favorite parts about running online boot camps is creating killer workouts. I test each one I have my clients do before they go through them so I can assess their difficulty. I try to make all of the workouts very challenging. I tell my clients I would much rather they struggle through a workout than find that it’s too easy. This is one of those struggle workouts! But it hurts so good!

So many people assume that a workout entirely made up of bodyweight exercises couldn’t be that difficult.

I’d love for those people to try this workout once and see how ‘easy’ it is!

After a hard workout like this that incorporates a lot of cardio activity and strength training I’ll try to get some protein and carbs in within 20 minutes of finishing. You’ve got to feed those muscles! Now that it’s summer there’s nothing better than an ice cold chocolate protein milkshake after a long workout. I ended up working out right before lunch so I snacked on some macadamia nuts as well to get some extra calories and healthy fats in.

I love wearing my Polar M400 throughout the day to get a total picture of how much activity I’m getting in. The watch tracks your steps, activity, sleep and calories 24/7. It syncs with my scale and the app on my phone so I have a lot of metrics to keep me on track. My main priority right now is making sure I’m eating enough since I’m nursing and working out or teaching yoga/stroller fitness classes multiple times a week.

I hit 50% of my daily activity goal after my workout that morning. I cleaned the house for a bit that afternoon and then we took the baby to our favorite weekly group run.

Where I snagged a nice little postpartum 5k PR! I love seeing that little trophy.
