5 of my Favorite Halloween Traditions

Given that I grew up in an area devoid of any actual Fall weather (Florida) it's somewhat ironic that I'm obsessed with anything Fall related. The moment I start seeing back to school stuff in the stores I know my favorite season is almost here and I begin counting down the days to Halloween. Growing up I loved everything relating to the holiday; dressing up, parties at school, baking treats at home, and of course trick or treating! Now that I have a little one I am so excited to start creating new traditions with him that he will remember and hopefully carry on with his family.

I indulged in my love of Halloween this weekend and here are 5 things my family and I did to celebrate!

1. Bake!

Mom and I whipped up these adorable pumpkin spice cupcakes last night. The recipe is super easy. Mix 1 box white cake mix, 1 T. pumpkin pie spice, 1 cup water and 1 cup pumpkin puree and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Boom! The cupcakes are super moist and have just the right amount of pumpkin flavor. IMG_0644

2. Dress up!

Can you handle the cuteness? IMG_0635

3. Decorate!

I am so excited to get to Alaska (13 more days!) right before Halloween. Hopefully the movers will arrive with out stuff in time for me to set some of my decorations out. I have an obscene amount of Halloween decorations (and that post was years ago so it's grown since then!)

4. Watch Halloween Movies!

Again, most of my Halloween movies are currently on their way to Alaska, but Mom had her favorite at the house we could watch. I can't wait to watch Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown!IMG_0606

5. Eat Treats!

I love sweets. I haven't had OREO cookies in ages but with these cute 2-pack serving size packages I couldn't resist. With a glow-in-the-dark feature, OREO 2-packs are great for party favors, gift bags and a fun option for visiting trick-or-treaters. IMG_0646I've been having one pack a night after dinner and love how convenient they are to just grab and eat where ever/whenever the baby gives me two minutes to sit down and enjoy them! I tried to get a photo of them glowing in the dark. Anything that glowed automatically became super awesome when I was a kid:
