A Better Morning and Healthier Habits with Bigelow Tea

Most of you already know I'm a proud tea fanatic. I probably have 20+ boxes at my house at any time and have to fight the urge to buy some almost every time I go to the store. Herbal tea has helped me significantly over the last few years. There is a perfect tea to suit me if I'm stressed, have an upset stomach, need an energy boost, or just want to sip on something instead of munching mindlessly in front of the television. One brand I hadn't tried much before last week but I'm 100% in love with now is Bigelow Tea.


I'm not sure why I hadn't tried it before. To be honest I think it's because the packaging is rather ... unassuming. I tend to go for the teas that cost 2x as much for no other reason then they have glitzier packaging.  I've been such a fool! I stopped by Walmart and spent about 10 minutes in their tea/coffee isle trying to decide on a few boxes to try out. 2014-01-16 11.00.30

I went with varieties I've tried in other brands so I could do a bit of comparison. Straight up: they were just as good (some of the flavors were even better than) the other brands I drink. IMG_7447I love that they make a variety pack so I could try out 6 different flavors for under $3. The boxes each contain 18-20 bags so at $2.36 a box it comes out to .11-.13 cents per drink. Seriously - what other drink is that cheap besides water?

One of the reason I've upped my tea consumption lately is because I have a wicked drink habit I'm trying to kick. I don't want to name names, but let's just say I have to consume it 2-3 times a day (it has caffeine in it) and it has a load of artificial ingredients. No bueno! Having fun trying new teas has definitely helped me cut back on how much of it I drink. I'm also working on getting my snack habit under control. I basically eat all day long. I'm doing it out of boredom and habit not out of genuine hunger, so I need to get a handle on it. Now, whenever I feel like snacking (usually at night while watching television or working online) I make a cup of tea first. I'd say it's helped me cut down about 50% on my snacking already which I consider a huge success! IMG_7451If you're looking for a tea to replace your morning coffee the Cinnamon Stick would be a great choice. It's robust but lacks an overpowering cinnamon taste, and it has about half the caffeine as a regular cup of coffee. So, you still get a perk but you don't overdose on caffeine! The peppermint was another variety that stood out in terms of high quality taste. I always reach for a peppermint tea now if I have an upset stomach and 90% of the time I feel better before I've even finished the cup.

My absolute favorite was the Lemon Ginger with probiotics. Lemon and Ginger are both reported to help jump-start your digestive tracts and many health experts advocate starting off your day with a warm glass of lemon water. This combines all the goodness in one tiny tea bag. It tastes incredible and it's refreshing and invigorating.


As if Bigelow Tea isn't an incredible value already they are currently selling bonus packs with 4 extra teabags at Walmart while supplies last (I'm going to go back and hunt for some!)
