Baby on the Go!

This blog post is brought to you by VTech and The Motherhood.

It seems like every day little man develops a new skill. A few weeks ago he was very slowly pulling himself along the floor in a commando crawl. Now, he's getting up on all fours, and pulling himself to stand. He claps, which is about the cutest thing I've ever seen, and waves hello and goodbye (about half the time at least.)IMG_2408

I'm the absolute epitome of a first time Mom. I'm nervous about everything. I haven't left him with anyone except for my husband and Mom (and never for more than 2 hours.) I research nearly everything from order of teeth appearance (he's working on his 7th tooth already!) and scouring Pinterest for ideas of activities we can do.

At the same time I'm also trying to be as relaxed and hands off as possible. I let him explore. I let him get dirty. I know he's developing his sense of self and with that comes exploring his surroundings. Still, I try to make things as safe as possible so that he can navigate his new world and I don't have to be a total helicopter.

I was sent the VTech Safe&Sound® DM271-110 DECT 6.0 Digital Audio Baby Monitor with Open/Closed & Motion Sensors to try out and it couldn't have been better timed.

We finally have little man sleep trained - hallelujah - and now we can put him in his crib wide awake and he will be asleep within a few minutes and rarely cries after we leave the room. He does enjoy having some music, and I love the music and projector that comes with the VTech Digital Audio Monitor.

Now that our son is crawling everywhere our house is pretty well baby proofed. My main area of concern was the staircase. We have yet to find a baby gate that fits with the top of the staircase, so for now we have an old school wooden one at the bottom of the stairs. For additional peace of mind we put the motion sensor from the VTech Digital Audio Monitor on the stairs.

It also came with a sensor you can put on a door or cabinet and we've put that on our back door to act as a security system. You can buy additional monitors to put all over the house. I could see this coming in handy when little man can open doors! VTech has units ranging from compact audio monitors to high tech video and all emphasize safety and security. I love that it has a range of 1,000 feet so I can be anywhere in the house and not worry about what he's getting into.

There are so many things to worry about as a mom, and I'm glad I have one less thing to stress about. Leaves me more time to bake organic, gluten free snacks for him and play world music for children.

Or, scramble to get some box mac and cheese ready while he's watching cartoons.

Whatever works.
