I didn't do a long run this week. I think it's been 3 months since that happened. I planned on doing an 8-10 miler but rain and a lack of desire prevented that from happening. I think I've finally come to a decision regarding the marathon. I'm going to sign up for the full, but email them and see if I can switch to the half the day of if I'm really not feeling it (the half and full share the same course the first 7-8 miles.) The time limit for the full would require under a 13 minute pace, which I know I could do (my pace for my two prior marathons were under 11) but I'm just not sure I want to train for a full anymore. It's only a month away so I may try to do a 18 miler this weekend and see how that goes. Obviously I'm not following Hanson method anymore. I LOVED the progress I was seeing with it - I just got totally burned out!
This week was Mom's birthday. She came over on Monday to meet me for breakfast. I ran to Publix before and got her these gorgeous Fall flowers.
We went to Another Broken Egg Cafe. I had been there before but it's been ages. They have some of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Mom's never had beignets so I forced her to order some so we could split it. They weren't traditional New Orleans style, very light and airy, but they were still delicious.
Then I had this bowl of steel-cut oats. I LOVE oatmeal but I haven't been having it as much lately and it's such a nice treat to get steel-cut!I tried on wedding dresses Monday. Found a great used dress shop but they didn't have a whole lot in my size. I wish they did though as most gowns were under $200!This is what happens when Travis doesn't answer my texts for 10 minutes. His sister texted him some of his baby photos. He was a crazy cat guy from birth. I love his face in this photo! He was such a cute baby!
The weather got cool for a hot minute earlier this week (it's back into the 80's now) so I made a giant batch of vegan black bean soup. I LOVE soup but hate buying canned because of the ridiculously high sodium. I doubled the carrots & celery and the only spices I added was 1/2 T of cumin and 1.5 T of smoked paprika (that spice will change your life.) Salem has two questions for you. (1) Do you think he's sexy? (2) Do you want his body? If yes to either, you should let him know. The weather is supposed to be much cooler this weekend so I'm hoping that helps me out with my long run. Travis and I will probably take turns fighting over playing Oblivion and I'll watch an excessive amount of Gilmore Girls on Netflix. Life is good.
What are you doing this weekend? What is your favorite soup to make? (Bonus points if you can link me to a recipe!)
