Is anyone else in denial that it's December? I'm genuinely concerned over how I will get done everything I need to in the next 4 weeks (Chicago, Gainesville, Moving + Holidays.) I guess that's what caffeine and wine are for. Friday night I kicked it old school and went to a high school football game. I don't think I've been to one in .... 10 years? No making out behind the bleachers this time, but it was a great game! The weather was ridiculously cold and I lost feeling in my feet by halftime. One of the teams playing were called the Senators. Is that not the most awkward team name ever?
That afternoon I swung by my landlords house to drop off my last rent check. As I got out of my car this little guy came sprinting toward me. He just started meowing his face off and my heart about fell out of my chest. He seemed to mangy and hungry! If I didn't have Salem at home already there's a 90% chance he would have come home with me. I spent the last day of my glorious 4 day vacation at one of my favorite spots in the world: Blackwater. There is some sort of energy in the woods there that always invigorates me. I've hiked all over the U.S. and this one will forever feel like 'home' to me. I'm sure part of it is due to camping there as a kid with my family. In high school I camped there with friends, and ever since then I go back at least once a year to hike.
There's a suspension bridge on the trail overlooking this river. I spent about 10 minutes there just listening to the life in the woods. I could have stayed all day. Even though I'm not ready to go back to work (is anyone ever?) I couldn't have asked for a better Thanksgiving Holiday. I hope you all enjoyed time with your family and friends!
Have you ever taken a stray animal home?
When is the last time you went to a high school game?
