Earlier in the month I set a goal for myself to get 100 miles in before the month was over. I slacked off a bit so I ended up needing to cover about 35 miles in the last week. As of today I have 10 miles to go so assuming I can get 5 in each day I'll hit my goal. It's a totally arbitrary number but having a goal in mind really kept me going some days! It does wonders for my mood to get out of the house for a while every day and I can tell baby boy loves the long walks as well. This week I went on post for some of my walks to change up the usual route I take. Whenever I tell people I live in Alaska they assume I'm surrounded by mountains, but I never get to see any! The town I'm in, Fairbanks, feels like your average small town in the lower 48.
The highs have been in the low 60's all week and I was getting hot on one of my walks. HOT. In low 60's. Florida Erica would slap me.
I've been going to the stroller fitness classes still and this week we met up at Pioneer Park. I hadn't been there before but I plan to go back often with little man. It's huge (big enough that they host 5k's there) and filled with stuff to do. There are lots of shops and eateries, plus stuff for kids like a carousel, mini golf and huge playground. The workout kicked my butt, and my bootcamp clients can expect to see a version of the workout next week!
While on another walk I managed to get my phone out quickly enough to catch these two guys flying off. A couple of geese flew over my head the other day, honking, and it scared the crap out of me. I'm used to seagulls.
I had quite a few packages arrive this week as I'm starting to baby proof the house thanks to a semi-crawling baby (he commando crawls on occasion but every time he does it he seems to surprise himself and not know how it happened.) My favorite package came from the Planner Society. The owner/designer, Christy, makes the most beautiful items. Sadly I think I will be canceling it after this month as I just don't have the time to sit around and plan/craft like I used to.
Baby got to try out some new foods this week; eggs and avocado. He didn't care for either after the first try, but I'll keep introducing them on occasion to see if he warms up to either.
Finally, I love that Facebook's time hop app shows me photos of Salem all the time. I miss the little fury jerk.
Tomorrow I'll be getting the house cleaned and organized since MY PARENTS WILL BE HERE ON SUNDAY. CAN YOU TELL THAT I'M EXCITED?! I've got a list going of a bunch of things I'd like to do with them while they are here (crepes and Santa Clauses House in the North Pole are at the top of that list.) I also plan to sleep, a lot. They will be here for two weeks and I've made quite a few doctors appointments during that time so I don't have to worry about bring the baby with me since Travis is always working. Yay for adulting.
What are you up to this weekend?
