When I adopted Salem and his brother Prince in 2006 we were unsure what their actual birthday was (they were found in an ally - you can read their full story here.) My boyfriend at the time had a daughter whose birthday was in July, the same month the Vet guessed they were born in, so we decided to celebrate their birthday the same time as hers - July 18th. Last year I guess I had a lot of free time on my hands so I went all out and actually threw Salem a birthday party. Really.
Since Salem turning 7 means he is officially a 'senior' cat he said he didn't want a big celebration. Okay, I lied, I'm just to busy with grown woman stuff to make fish streamers to hang from the ceiling. I did go and pick him up a new toy though! I swear cats and Dads are the hardest people to shop for. Every time I buy Salem something he spends 2 seconds with it then never touches it again. I found this at Target and had a good feeling about it!
He sized it up for a few minutes with his usual licking and face rubbing ...
Then came the test: Could his morbidly obese cat-butt fit into it?
Finally, this may have happened.
Want to get Salem something to celebrate his Birthday? He told me he'd love donations to the GoFundMe account I started to raise money for the Pensacola Humane Society that I'm running my first marathon for! $7 for 7 years would be a great gift!
