You'll probably have that song stuck in your head the rest of the day now. You're welcome! If you saw my Thanksgiving post you know that Mom gave me a box of Christmas decorations that she's been collecting for me for a few years now. When I got back into town I went straight to Winterizing my place! It's not nearly as epic as my Halloween Decor Explosion (which I completely forgot to even show of my life size animated headless bride this year!).
You guys know that one special ornament that was always your favorite growing up? This is mine. It has a little hole on the side to put one of the tree lights in and it illuminates the little mice scene - so adorable!
I made these little felt ornaments!
All tea must now be consumed in adorable snowmen mugs. This is one of a set of 4 (with a matching tea kettle!)
My favorite thing Mom got was this Nativity Scene. It's identical to the one she and my Dad received for their wedding (they were married just a few days after Christmas) and I always fought with my brother over who got to set it up. She found this one on ebay and it brought back SO many vivid Christmas memories!
The Christmas festivities continued Friday night as I met up with some friends downtown for the official kickoff of Winterfest. The pictures are terrible but it was absolutely adorable out.
Saturday morning I set a new distance PR! Also destroyed my favorite pair of running socks...I can't even Christmas list those badboys I need a new pair asap!
Sunday I spent the day working, running errands and doing my food prep. I stopped by Petco to get Salem's food for the month and saw this cardboard scratching post on sale. I passed it by a few weeks ago and thought he would love it so I went ahead and got his Christmas present a bit early. He was so excited!
I'm sure he's like most cats and shows little interest in any 'real' cat toys. He LOVES boxes. Like, anytime there's a cardboard box around he'll sit there and lick the sides of it until I make him stop. I call him a pervert.
The box took me about 10 minutes to set up and it was enjoyed for about 30 seconds before it collapsed on Salem. It said it supported cats up to 20 pounds - it lied! Salem was so embarrassed.
Fortunately, I had already covered it in catnip so he was pretty buzzed and just started doing that crazy 'roll around and lick yourself frantically' thing. I took the top level out and just made it one story and that worked for a few minutes until it collapsed again.
Maybe I'll put him on a kitty exercise plan for the New Year.
I'm in absolute denial that I had 4 days off and no we are back to the grind. Only 3 weeks left in the term (not that I'm counting) then I'm off for 2. I'm on my way to my very first skin cancer screening this morning and to say I'm nervous would be an understatement. I finally quit tanning this Summer after 10 years of being a tanorexic - I know I'm doing the right thing by getting checked out but I can't wait for it to be over!
