Saturday I killed our 13 mile long run. I was worried my achilles/calf muscles would start hating me given all the hills we take but they held out and I wasn't sore at all after!
The best part of the run was when we were getting close to the finishing point and our group realized we were only at 12.6. One of the pacers asked if we wanted to run past the stopping point to hit our 13 miles and without hesitation the group started rallying and everyone put their game face on to get it done. This is why I signed up for group training. After 2+ hours of running in the Florida heat and humidity with legs that feel like they are about to fall off you can rely on the energy from those struggling right along with you to push yourself past the point you'd normally give up.
Per my routine I got home and almost immediately started thinking about what I wanted to eat as a splurge later that day. On long run days it's important I eat more than usual to help my muscles repair and replenish the 2000+ calories I burn so I aim to eat more than usual, but still try to make sure it's quality food. The last thing your body needs after an intense workout is junk food! But ... it's also nice to treat yourself so I found some balance (I think) with this:
That lundt chocolate brownie bar was only 200 calories and freaking incredible.
After agonizing at Target over what to get to eat for almost an hour I came home and saw my first Bestowed box was delivered. They were kind enough to send me one to review and I was shocked at the quality & quantity of items they included.
I can eat every single thing they sent! That doesn't always happen with these types of subscription boxes. I almost immediately jumped on the computer to see how much they charge per month because I knew I would have to spend $30+ at the store to get the same items (it's only $19.) The chips? Delicious. The tea? Buying some as soon as I run out. Coupon for free noosa yogurt? As if I needed an excuse to go to Target this week. Flax and Chia sticks will be with me on my next LR.
Salem approved. I also loved that they didn't send just snack foods. It's fun to try new bars and treats but I really like that they included stuff to use in cooking as well. Of all the boxes I've ever received this one is my favorite, easily.
Sunday I had laundry done and the house cleaned by 7 a.m. so I spent the rest of the morning having a 90210 binge-fest. I finally put on real clothes and went out shopping for a bit before coming home to food prep (which I'll be sharing tomorrow - it was so good this week it deserves it's own post!) I cannot believe Fall stuff is out. SO so excited the Holiday's are almost here! (Remember my Halloween obsession?)
The big purchase for the weekend was definitely my first original art piece off of Etsy. I fell in love with Audrey Hepburn last year after I started watching her movies (I'm convinced my alter ego is Holly Golightly) and I've always been a bit obsessed with the female badass stereotype. What do you get when you put them together? Bloodbath at Tiffany's.
I'm not sure where I'll hang it yet but it will be prominently displayed somewhere.
What was the highlight of your weekend? What is your favorite classic film?
