Sunday: Spent the day in Pensacola so not enough time
Monday: So sore from massage received Sunday!
Tuesday: Tracey Mallet's F.I.T.
Wednesday: Couldn't hardly move I was so sore from Tuesdays workout (first time using weights in .... 5 weeks?
Friday: Will try to walk/run today, but no promises
I mean, really, how sad is that? The only part of me that was really sore Monday was my shoulders so I could have run/walked, but it was also gloomy and rainy out all day. Tuesday I had a great workout and even went down to 5 lb weights from the 8 lbs ones I normally use since I knew it had been a while since I did any strength training. Wednesday I was so sore it hurt sitting down to use the bathroom. I feel like I should feel bad about only working out once this week...but I don't.
Even though my physical activity slacked (I know I'll pick it up again next week) I cooked up a lot of delicious, healthy food. I finally wore this cute apron that Travis got me for Christmas!
With the cold weather this week it was the perfect time to make one of my favorite soups, minestrone.
I also made up these black bean, corn and brown rice burritos for lunch for the week that sounded delicious but tasted so bland. I added smoked paprika (one of my absolute favorite spices), cumin, salt and pepper but it was just gross. I think it was the tortillas I got that ruined them. I still ate them so not to waste food, but I used a bit more cheese and sour cream than I otherwise would have!
I had the privilege of having Smokey and Rudy lay on me together for the first time this week! I know I hardly talk about them compared to the incessant praise I do of Salem.
Smokey (on the right) is so skiddish still. He and Rudy go way back (they are Travis's cats he's had for 8+ years) so he is comfortable around Rudy, but Smokey spend a lot of time hanging out alone in the back room when Travis isn't here. Rudy can be such an asshole though (almost as much as Salem) so right after this photo was taken he jumped on top of Smoke and they both ran off. #SadCatLady
This weekend is the last one Travis has off before his classes start up again so I'm hoping we can go out and do something fun like a hike or picnic. When he's in classes he has the weekends off still but he spends most of them studying, talking about studying, or catching up on sleep. I keep looking around online and in the papers for fun things to do locally but we are so isolated from any major city that there's not a lot going on usually. Even on post most of the activities are geared toward kids/families so I haven't had a lot of luck there. It can be hard when I'm so frugal I cringe at shopping/eating out being our 'go to' activity to get out of the house.
What do you love to do that's free/inexpensive?
If you live out in the middle of nowhere how do you make your own entertainment?
