Our First Alaskan Christmas

I hope you all had a happy holiday! All of our Christmas decorations were down by Saturday afternoon. I'm not sure why I'm in such a rush every year, the house feels so empty after it has all been put away. Christmas tree We had a very low key day. I didn't even think to prepare a special breakfast. Growing up we always had cinnamon rolls and somehow I forgot to plan anything. We spent the morning opening presents, and taking lots of photos. We gave our son his present (Woodland Jumperoo!) when it arrived in the mail but it took him a few days to warm up to it. He loves it now! That night we went over to a friends house for Christmas dinner. Travis's coworker had his parents and brother in town for the week so if was nice to have a "big" family dinner. I brought over some oreo fudge and this amazing pesto pasta salad. Not a very traditional holiday food but I wanted something that would taste good at room temperature so I wouldn't have to reheat it once we arrived and make things complicated. There was a bit leftover and I ate the rest for breakfast the next day!PESTO The day after Christmas I went out to check the mail and there was a moose in our neighbors front yard. Totally normal. This photo was taken at 1 p.m.. Look how low the sun is! That's about as high as it gets during the day, and starts to set around 2:30, Midday SunI have a very busy week this week. I'm halfway through an online grading project so I've got to spend a minimum of 20 hours a week on that. There are a few blog posts I'm excited to share coming up, and I'm trying to get on a consistent training schedule again. Travis goes back to work next week so I have a few projects around the house is like to finish before I lose the extra help during the day.

I'm so excited for 2016! I don't really do resolutions but I think I might make a list of goals I'd like to work toward, and things I'd like to do next year. I'm looking forward to expanding my online business in the coming year, and I want to make sure we experience all we can in Alaska before our time is up. We've only got 33 months left!

Not that I'm counting.

Are you setting resolutions or goals for next year?
