After the rough week I had my only goal for this weekend was to rest and recharge. There are only 2 weeks left in the term before finals and they are always the most stressful for me. Thankfully, I'm feeling ready to tackle the week after a great weekend! Friday afternoon I went to a seminar on Transcendental Meditation at Abhaya Yoga Studio. It was put on my Prudence Bruns, the woman who taught the Beatles how to meditate (inspiring the song Dear Prudence) and she is the sister to Mia Farrow. The talk was wonderful up until the part they wanted you to pay hundreds of dollars to come back next week and actually be taught how to Meditate! I should have known there was a catch ;) It was still very interesting and it's reignited my desire to meditate on a regular basis.
That night I kept the feel good going by taking a hot yoga and conditioning class. It was great running into friends there but the class was brutal! I've taken the instructor before and it wasn't as ridiculously challenging as this class was. I enjoy being pushed but I had to sit out a decent amount of the moves and think I may stick to regular hot yoga and the beginners classes for a while.
Saturday the weather was perfect out. I went on my first real run since the half and did 6 miles at an 11 minute mile pace. Slow, but it felt great to be out enjoying the gorgeous day. I was so happy I could finally wear some of the new Spring clothes I bought weeks ago!
I ran errands all afternoon and came across this adorable guy at the Pet Store. I realized suddenly what a terrible mistake it is for single girls feeling particularly lonely (hey, it happens!) to ever go to the pet store by themselves. I don't think Salem would enjoy the threat to his territory.
It rained most of the day Sunday. I was happy I managed to get a great 1 hour strength session in at home and had time to do 1.5 miles in sprints before the storms came. The rest of the day I lounged around alternating between working, watching netflix and cleaning. Finally, I cooked dinner and tried Angela's 5 Ingredient Vegan Cheese Sauce. Holy Cow. It was my first time making a vegan cheese sauce and I knew I'd like it since I love nutritional yeast but I didn't realize how flipping good it would actually be. I mixed it with 1 cup of elbow pasta, a few cups of steamed broccoli and a faux hot dog. Delicious! Already looking forward to having the rest for lunch tomorrow. I also started watching the most recent incarnation of one of my favorite novels, Tess of the D'urburvilles. I owned the Justine Waddell version on VHS in High School and literally watched it 20-25 times. I was obsessed with Angel! So far this version is just as good as the previous.
I shared this on Twitter last week and thought it would be the perfect way to kick-start the week here. I'm not sure how things are going to turn out in a few area's of my life right now, but if I've learned anything in my ripe old age it's that the Universe typically knows exactly what I should be doing, where and when. I just need to not get in Fate's way so much and let her work her magic! When is the last time you feel fate intervened in your life?
