Well - after the week I had I wasn't surprised when the highlight of my Friday night was not needing stitches. Kids, be careful with mandolin slicers. I was getting down to the end of a carrot, clearly not paying attention, when I sliced a good portion of my finger. Thankfully, it didn't go all the way through so it's healing up nicely although I did bleed all over the house.
Saturday I got sucked into the new Upstairs Downstairs on Amazon prime and spent most of the morning watching that. I finally got out for a long walk and came across the most gorgeous front yard ever.
Went to Target that afternoon to get my Brother a birthday card when my friend who loaned me the bike I've been using texted me and said she needed it back. I almost started to cry. There's no way I can afford even a used one right now and of course this happens right after I find someone to ride with! Such is life.
I decided to console myself by eating whatever-the-hell I wanted for dinner and this happened:
Cocoa pebbles used to be my favorite cereal and I hadn't had it in years. I was utterly disappointed - it tasted like cardboard. Not even chocolatey, sugar cardboard - just cardboard. So, I had a second bowl and headed out to read at the park and watch the sunset.
Sunday started early with a 10 mile bike ride at Blackwater Trail with Jason and a short walk. As I was riding I started receiving texts from my Mom. My brother left Gainesville to come home (fort walton beach) on Saturday. He realized 45 minutes into the 5 hours trip that he left his cell phone at home so he drove back and stayed the night there. Sunday morning he left again and his car broke down an hour outside of town at a rest stop. With it being a Sunday (and a holiday weekend!) we weren't sure if he would be able to find a place to fix it, or rent a car, and all of his college friends were gone for the summer. A few hours, and about $1k later, his car should be fixed by 6 p.m. and he should be in town by about 9 (I'm writing this Sunday afternoon!) My plans have been to head over to FWB to spend the night as I've got an early morning race there to get to and it's Josh's birthday tomorrow. It will be fun having the whole family at the house again and we're planning s'mores for dessert tonight.
There's very little in the world that can't be made better by s'mores.
I'm so glad I took some time to give myself a bit of TLC this weekend (my favorite mud mask + re-dying my pink!) If this weekend has been any indication of the week ahead - I'm going to need it.
Safe and Happy Memorial Day to you all!
