44 miles in the bank! I wish I had an actual bank collecting money for each mile I ran. I'd be like ... a thousandare by now. The runs this week were pretty good. My calf muscles have been super tight at the start of each run so I'm worried that may develop into a more serious issue as the marathon date approaches. I've been doing trigger point 1-2x a day and wearing compression socks so I'm not sure what else I can do!
The tempo run Tuesday was definitely the most challenging. We were supposed to do 5 miles out of 8 at a 9:15 pace and ended up only doing 4. It was over 90% humidity out so it was extremely hard to breathe!
Thank you all so much for the incredible response to my 'to kid or not to kid' post Wednesday! I love hearing from both parents and non-parents about how they made the decision, and what they would change if they could do things over. Reading and responding to all the comments helped me realize that my plan is likely to live my life as happily as possible and see what happens. If I ever marry someone I would only do so being absolutely head-over-heels for them and very invested in their happiness. If their happiness included having a family then I would be love to provide that for them!
Speaking of love ... my diet has been challenged regularly at work this week. I succumbed to banana pudding and sugar cookies 3 days this week. Hey, it's all about balance!
As good as they were I was more excited about my monthly PB2 shipment arriving. I try not to get the chocolate PB2 as often because I will seriously go through a bag in a few days. The stuff tastes just like raw brownie batter! I make up 1/4 cup as a snack and it's 90 calories and 10 grams of protein. Winning.
I had more blood work done this week (I've accepted the fact I can't go two weeks without being in a doctors/dentists office for something now.) It was time to check my thyroid again and the nurse wanted just the T4 checked but I asked for the full Thyroid panel. Sometimes the T4 can come back in normal range but the T3 could be off and I haven't been feeling 'right' so I ponied up the extra money to have more tests done. I also had some hormone testing done because I've been beyond tired lately. Like, going home and fighting sleep at 6, or dozing off at my desk around 2 p.m. most days! One of the most frustrating things about Hashimoto's is not knowing what's causing my symptoms. Am I exhausted because of thyroid/hormone issues, or because I'm training for a marathon? Guess we'll find out soon!
Finally, here's a random video I shot of myself in my car Monday being a dorky white girl. Keeping it real.
This Saturday I'll be setting another distance PR (assuming I finish) with our 17 mile group run. I'm keeping my fingers crossed I don't cry, bleed or go into a coma after.
And that strangely sounds like how most of my nights of partying ended in my early 20's.
