Weekly Workout Wrap Up

{My reviews of the workout DVD's listed above can be found here}

I.am.tired.

I haven't needed a 3 day weekend this badly since I was in graduate school! This week has been non-stop - I received tons of items to review on here, all of the classes I'm teaching are gearing up for the final month of the term, I've spent probably 10 hours cooking up  new recipes and I've been killing my workouts. I ran 14.6 miles last week - which includes my very first 5k race!

I also dressed up a bit more than usual on Wednesday since I was speaking at a career day for VPK (4 year olds) before one of my lectures. Despite my best efforts to look like 'a teacher' as soon as I walked in a little boy looked at me and asked, "What are you supposed to be?" Evidently I followed a NINJA. A freaking Ninja (well, a karate instructor but the kids didn't care about semantics).

Thursday I got up knowing it was going to be ridiculously cold out (40 degrees which is below zero in Florida terms) but I really wanted to get my run in. I've set up a training schedule for the next few weeks that I'm hoping to stick to. I'm not quite ready to say what I'm training for (because I'm not ready to admit it to myself) but I'll share soon (and it's not a marathon!)

I managed to bundle up and get some sprints in and when I posted the photo on twitter someone said I looked like a NinjaRunner. How ironic - and very fitting!

I'm actually wearing the same turtleneck I wore to teach in the day before.

Don't judge me.

It's so funny when I'm out dressed like this and I see runners breeze by me in shorts and a short sleeve t-shirt. I'll be the first to admit that I'm a total pansy when it comes to the cold. As soon as I got home I soaked in a hot bath and brought this in bathroom with me:

That night I spent a ridiculous amount of time in the kitchen roasting veggies. I roasted a spaghetti squash and left it plain to decide tomorrow what I'd like to dress it up with. I also did cardamom and honey roasted sweet potatoes, vanilla and thyme roasted butternut squash, and roasted acorn squash with brown sugar and butter. I've never cooked any of those items before so I had no idea what to expect.

They.were.incredible.

I promise to get recipes up asap!

Finally, after cooking & cleaning for 3 hours I had to run out to Target and replace my hair straightner that died on me that morning after 5 years. When I got back home I saw I had a package waiting for me and I'm thrilled to be a part of the cool kids club now thanks to Heather over at A Colorado Gal!

I'm not sure what my weekend plans will entail but there will be a significant amount of time spent in a members only cuddle party with Salem, then eating peanut butter out of the jar while watching horrible 90's television and potentially some actual social activities. Woah now, I'm getting crazy over here.

Is anyone doing anything special to celebrate Veterans Day? What are your favorite ways to decompress after a particularly stressful week?
