I'm not one to brag but I totally killed it with my workouts this week! I'm not sure if it's my Hashimoto's medicine kicking in already but my energy and mood have been great these past few days. The fact that the semester is ending in two weeks may have something to do with it as well!
Runs have been slow and steady this week. I feel like I'm finding to find a new balance now that I'm not actively training for a half-marathon. It's also been difficult getting used to the increase in humidity. Even though the temperatures were in the low 70's in the mornings I ran the humidity was almost 100% and I forgot how ridiculous that is to run in. I was really sore Tuesday after a great strength routine Monday but I had to run!
I've been working a bit more on my abs this week and I've noticed a huge difference already. If my eating/fitness ever gets derailed for a few weeks I can always rely on Jillian's 6 week 6 pack to get my tummy flat again in no time! I also did a plank yesterday for the first time in forever and I didn't think I was going to make it to 2 minutes. I really need to work more on my upper body strength.
A few weeks ago I was selected through Fitfluential to try out some GNC products. I was extremely interested in trying out their probiotics as I've never taken any before and I have had chronic digestive issues for at least 10 years now. I was diagnosed with IBS when I was 19 and I've managed to keep it under control through a healthy diet but there are times, usually stress induced, when my stomach just goes haywire. I always try to explain to people that, at least for me, IBS isn't 'gross' symptoms but extreme bloating and cramps. There have been times when I'm out in public and it hits so hard and suddenly that I immediately hunch over in pain and have to get home and just wait it out. No fun!
I've known for some time now that probiotics are supposed to help and I'm not sure why I haven't tried them before. Since I've been taking them I haven't had any severe issues and I've noticed a significant decrease in pepto bismol consumption (I seriously take shots of the stuff every few days normally.) My 30 day supply ended a few days ago and I have noticed some of the bloating/cramping coming back again. Looks like I'll be headed to GNC this weekend to pick some more up!

Another thing that has been making my belly really, really happy? This incredible vegan cheese sauce I shared earlier this week from Angela. I can't remember the last time I had such a specific craving but since I tried this I can't stop thinking of what else I can put it on! I don't feel like cooking tonight so I'm skipping the pasta that I did last time and just making some to throw on some steamed broccoli. Nom nom nom.
So much fun going on this weekend! I'm going out with a friend for his birthday tonight, I'll be heading into FWB for a festival on Saturday and Sunday I'm hoping to veg out watching Netflix and doing my weekly meal prep. I have a very special post lined up for Earth Day on Monday so I'll be doing my usual weekend update either Sunday or Tuesday.
