Another light week of working out as I'm still fighting off a lingering cough. I didn't up the mileage on my long run this week since I was so exhausted after I did 10 miles the first time. This run felt significantly better! I don't think I was sore at all the next day and I had more energy throughout my run. Expect to see me take things up a notch as I prepare for my first Half Marathon next month. I haven't officially signed up so I'll wait until I do to tell you which one I'm doing, but I did go ahead and invest in some much needed new shoes. I currently run with Asics Gel Blur33 and found the Blur33 2.0's on clearance at Shoe Depot. They only had one pair left, and it happened to be in my size. It was fate!
I'll write up a review once I've had them for a few weeks. In the meantime, you can check them out on Amazon here.
Another 'big' purchase I made this week was a storage ottoman. I've been on the hunt for the perfect one for my upcoming move and when I saw this one on Sale at Target I had to get it. I'll be using it to store all of my exercise equipment! Seeing me carry it up the stairs was quite the sight I'm sure.
After Christmas Mom sent me home with some leftovers. The cookies and cake were gone immediately but I managed to hold onto the soup and casserole so I could take pretty photos to share. The mushroom soup recipe can be found on Allrecipes here and if you are a mushroom lover you need to try it! It's a light cream of mushroom so you definitely taste the mushroom flavor in it but I love 'em so this was perfect.
The Rice Casserole was the first time I've had rice in ages and I forgot how much I missed it! Recipe from FoodNetwork here and I'm surprised it had a few negative reviews. Ours was definitely not dry but it may be a bit bland for most people. I like food that tastes like what it is though; rice, cheese and spinach. I'm not sure what they were expecting!
For those of you who saw me share this photo on Christmas day I failed to mention it was taken prior to a first date on Christmas Eve. We watched the sunset on the beach while drinking Mojito's and eating chocolate. Yes, really.
I'm headed back over to Destin for the day to do some shopping and watch Django Unchained. I am in a bit of denial that I will be moving in 6 days and the Spring Term starts in 10.
