I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and didn’t fall into any chocolate bunny sugar comas! My weekend started off well when the latest Planner Society Kit was delivered. The theme for March was Scandinavian kitsch and I could not be any more obsessed with it.
On Saturday we went out to eat at the Cookie Jar. Travis had woken up early to run 12 miles and wanted a big breakfast. I absolutely love their veggie burger and fries so I was in heaven.
That afternoon we took baby out for his first hike! We had record highs here on Friday when it reached 51 degrees.
I was extremely excited about being out on the trail!
We only stayed out about 45 minutes as I didn’t wan to overdo it with little man. He had a blast! Every time I looked at him he was wide eyed looking around trying to take it all in. He did pass out the last few minutes before we got back to the car.
I was hoping we’d see some wildlife but the best we got was lots of Moose poop.
On Sunday we stayed in all day and enjoyed a day of relaxing. I cleaned and worked for a little bit, but for the most part we watched TV, ate lots of food, and FaceTimed with my parents.
I came into the office yesterday to find the boys cuddling while holding hands. The Vet called Friday and said Rudy was in early stage kidney failure. We are switching him to a special diet, and will be taking him in every 6 months to have blood work done (earlier if he shows any signs that he’s getting worse.) He could live years still, or things could turn suddenly, so we are just going to enjoy our old man and do the best we can to keep him healthy as long as possible.
Last week I really struggled with work/life balance. I’ve got so many amazing projects I’m working on and I don’t want to half-ass anything, but I need to be better at prioritizing and time management. While nursing or letting baby nap on me (I know, I know, I need to work on breaking this soon) I’ve gotten into a bad habit of zoning out on my phone checking social media. This week I’m going to limit myself to 5 minutes of that before either reading or working on my computer.
I spend 2-3 hours working at night, and if I can get 1-2 hours in while baby boy is nursing or napping then that should be all I need in a day. He is happy to play in his Pack N Play while I workout so that’s not an issue, and he loves playing in high high chair while I clean or cook. I’d also like to spend 2, 30 minute time blocks of focused play with him every day. I felt like a lot of my time was spent keeping him busy so I could work or clean, and I really want to spend more meaningful time interacting with him.
Those are my goals for the week and I hope I can report success with them come Friday!
