I’m so over this ‘Fitness Friday’ layout. Once the term ends, and I hopefully survive my Nashville marathon, I’m planning on doing a blog overhaul. It will coincide with the 2 year anniversary of my blog so I think a face life would be appropriate and well-timed.
Most of my running this week has been solid. I finished my longest training run Saturday and ran a few slow 5k’s with a friend to help recover (and remind myself that running shouldn’t always be about pace time or mileage!)
I haven’t done quite as much strength training as normal but this is my highest mileage week before the marathon so I’m happy I fit in any. I swung by my favorite running store, Running Wild, on Wednesday between classes to use my reward points and grab a few things for race day. Picking out the fuel your going to be running your marathon in makes it feel very, very real! I ended up talking tri’s with them for a while (still eyeballing the half Ironman in GA this September) and left feeling pumped about all my upcoming race plans.The next day I had the shittest run of the week. Funny how it times out that way. It felt 10x hotter than it actually was out, my legs were still a bit tired and sore from the hilly 21 miles on Saturday, and I struggled to make it to 5 miles. Just Tuesday I ran 6 miles and it felt like I was floating on air. Hey, it happens. I ended up going home, putting my compression socks on, stuffing my face (seriously eating my normal lunch, and half of dinner, before noon) and taking an hour nap. Things that didn’t suck this week.
Playing around with this protein ice cream recipe I found. I’m trying to reign in unnecessary food purchases so I’ve been looking for a way to make Arctic Zero myself. I compared the ingredients in AZ to the recipe I found and they were almost identical. My first go at it came out more like frozen yogurt than ice cream, but I’m just going to have to keep making it every night until I get it right ;) That whole bowl is about …. 170 calories. The lovely people at Gnu Foods sent me some of their newest Fiber Love Bar flavors to try. I tried their bars out a few months ago and loved them and these new one’s didn’t disappoint. Since they are high in fiber they keep me feeling full longer than almost any other bar I’ve tried, and they are only 150 calories so they are one of my favorite mid-afternoon “I’m starving and I won’t make it to dinner” snacks.
My lunches this week have been uhhhhmazing. This soup recipe I tried (I added a Tablespoon of cinnamon in the end to mine) went so well with GF Swiss grilled cheese (with a bit of honey drizzled on the cheese.)
Finally, Mom disapproves of my marathon outfit idea.
