Fitness Friday: Our First Week in Alaska

October 30th, 2015 | Posted by Erica House in Life

One week down, 152 to go! This first week has been a blur. With Dad here we tried to get out as much as possible so he could see the area before flying back to Florida. My workouts definitely weren’t top priority, but I was happy I was able to squeeze a few in.

Saturday: Skipped since we were flying all day to Alaska!

Sunday: Rest

Monday: T25 cardio

Tuesday: Rest

Wednesday: Jillian Michaels Six Week Six Pack

Thursday: T25 Speed

Friday: T25 + Six Week Six Pack

Between juggling a newborn, working from home grading tests for Pearson, the blog, and settling into life in Alaska I don’t have much time to workout so I’ve been popping in the T25 workouts more often. They are extremely efficient for being so short, and I love that most don’t require any equipment. I was looking forward to doing the Six Week Six Pack workout again. Pre-pregnancy that was one of my favorite workouts, and I waited until I was six weeks postpartum this past Sunday before starting core work again. I was surprised how much muscle strength I still had in my core!

We’ve settled in nicely at our new home in Alaska. I’m looking forward to getting out of town and seeing more nature/wildlife, but we’ve had a lot of fun sightseeing in town. We hit up this huge gift shop in a nearby town that had tons of stuffed animals on display.

But we found something better. Fudge. First week4

I also saw my first reindeer!Reindeer

We went out to eat at the Loose Moose. I was happy they had a vegetarian burger on the menu. Their fries were delicious, and I had my first rootbear float in about 20 years. loose moose

Wednesday we went to the museum at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The campus, and museum, exceeded my expectations!  Fairbanks is kind of … basic. It’s nice, but it’s just a typical small town.
museumThis weekend I’m going to unpack the rest of the boxes, head to Fred Meyers to stock the pantry (we love that grocery store!) and Halloween cookies may be on the agenda!

What are you up to this weekend?
