For about a year now I have had a super thick and creamy chocolate protein smoothie for dinner most nights. It started when I was pregnant and I had an aversion to most protein sources. Now, it’s just become part of my routine and I genuinely look forward to having it every day! This chocolate protein smoothie tastes just like a milkshake to me, and keeps me full for hours.
- 1 scoop protein powder (I love Premier Protein as it’s low sugar and has very clean ingredients.)
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 giant handful of spinach
- ice to fill up cup
- almond milk ( pour in after everything else is in the cup and fill to the fill line.)
- 1 T. cocoa powder (if using vanilla protein powder)
Blend until smooth and enjoy!
This genuinely tastes like a giant chocolate milkshake to me. The banana makes it creamy, and the spinach helps make the smoothie ‘fluffy.’ I know that sounds ridiculous but the consistency really does improve by adding the spinach, and I promise you can’t taste it! Plus, it’s a super easy way to get some greens in.
There are days when I’m being super lazy that I could have this for lunch and dinner, but I refrain. You could use vanilla powder and frozen strawberries instead of the banana for a strawberry shake!
The nutritional information will change based on what protein powder you use but with Premier Protein this protein smoothie has about 350 calories and 30 grams of protein.
