I am thrilled to announce that I will be speaking at FitBloggin this year! I will be co-hosting a workshop on how to design a media kit and use it to pitch to brands for products and sponsorship’s. I am looking forward to meeting so many ‘friends’ that I know from the blog world and learning everything I possibly can from the lectures/workshops I attend to help keep the amazing momentum of this blog going!

As much as I was excited to find out I was selected to present there – I think I may have been even more excited at the location. Here’s a hint:

Portland, Oregon! If you all remember from my Happiness Concept Map travel was at the top of my wishlist for 2013 and even my Pinterest travel board had Portland on it. How perfect is this?

The conference is June 27-30 and I’m not sure what days I’ll be arriving/leaving. My ideal timetable was to leave early Thursday morning from Pensacola and catch a later flight on the 30th to enjoy the morning in Portland before heading home. Of course, neither of those times are available so now I’m looking at leaving and arriving a day outside of the conference. For the 3 nights of the conference I’ll be rooming with the adorable Haley from The Saucy Apple!

We’ll be staying at the same Hotel the conference will be at – The Nines. Take a look at it. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be the nicest Hotel I’ve ever been in.

I’m going to start a countdown clock I am that excited for this trip. If you’ve ever been to Portland let me know what the ‘must do’ activities/restaurants are! I’m still unsure how much time I’ll have there but I think it will be at least a full day outside of the conference dates.
Also – this is also going to be my first blogging conference. If you’ve been to one before what did you like best about it? Any surprises that you weren’t prepared for?
T-161 Days.
Interested in sponsoring my trip? Please see more info on sponsor packages here.

Major congrats!!! I truly loved everyone I met at Fitbloggin last year and speaking was a blast too. You are going to have so much fun!!!
Thank you! I’m SO excited to meet all of my ‘friends’ for the first time. I’m hoping I can spend a day or two outside of the conference in Portland as I’m pretty sure I will fall in love with the city and never want to come home!
Congrats! Your presentation sounds like it’s going to be very beneficial for many attendees. I’ll be there too: this will be my 3rd FitBloggin’ experience. It’s a great time!
Awesome! What is your favorite part of the conference? Any tips for a newbie?
Congrats, indeed! This’ll be my 2nd FitBloggin’.
For a newbie, I’d say show up ready to sweat. There are a ton of great morning exercise sessions. JumpSport brought trampolines for an hour trampoline tabata last year – killer, but so much fun.
Say hello to everyone. Try to catch other speakers before they speak. As you’ll find out, they get swamped after a session.
Lastly, leave room for an extra checked bag. I brought an extra suitcase last year and still had to leave some swag behind.
I’ll be looking forward to your session. :)
Great advice! I totally would have overstuffed my suitcase not even thinking to leave room for swag to bring home! I’m usually up at 5 a.m. so I’ll be ready to sweat early – my main issue will be adjusting to the time difference. I’m afraid I’ll be waking up at 3 a.m. there out of habit! Do you live near Portland or will you be flying in as well?
Flying in from Boston. I find the time difference is worse coming east than going west, or at least I did when I lived in Seattle.
I’ve only gone East to West once and all I remember is taking 2 days to get acclimated to the time, which gave me about 2 days there before I had to head back! Maybe my old age will make that better … or worse.
Wow, Congratulations! I was looking at this conference and it looks pretty awesome, although it’s a shame that I can’t go. I’m sure you’ll have such a great time, I’ve always wanted to go to a blogging conference, simply for the reasons you’ve outlined. I think the networking would be the most exciting part for me, meeting all the healthy, inspirational bloggers (you included) in the real world would be simply wonderful.
Have a great time, even though it’s a while away, I’m sure I’ll wish it again when the time bears closer. And again, congratulations! :)
Thank you! That would be quite the trip for you – and I believe this will be the farthest I’ve ever gone before (been to Cali a few times.) I’m going to feel like a total geek meeting these fitness ‘celebrities’ I read online all the time!
SEE YOU THERE!!
Fair warning: If I meet you in person I’m likely to be so overcome with your awesomeness that I’ll pass out on the floor for a few seconds. Just let me lay there for a moment and I’m sure I’ll come around eventually.
Congratulations!! That’s so exciting!
Thanks! You have been blogging for a while – have you ever been to a conference?
That is awesome! Congratulations! Very exciting!
Ty! Someone just pointed out to me on twitter that this is the result of vision + positive thinking. I hoped for this for 2013 and now it’s happening – a testament to the Law of Attraction!
That is so exciting! Congratulations! I really wanted to go Fitbloggin this year but since I am on the East Coast, the flights were just too expensive. Hopefully Fitbloggin will come back to the East Coast next year and I will have a better opportunity to come!
I’ve been looking at the tickets to fly and they are SO stinking expensive. I started 2013 off with a specific budget and plans to set aside a small amount each month to cover travel. I’m hoping to get some sponsors for the trip but if not, I’m glad I was being proactive!
Congrats! So jealz you get to go to Portland! It’s been on my travel bucket list since Portlandia premiered!
I promise to take an obscene amount of photos! I will absolutely need to catch up on the Portlandia episodes before I go :)
Cool…sounds like a great opportunity! And portland is weird..that is a good thing in portland speak…
Lol – I would not have assumed ‘weird’ was cool kid lingo there. I need to do some hipster homework before the trip!
How exciting! Congrats!
Ty! Will you be attending any conferences this year? Would love to meet you someday!
Congrats! That’s so exciting…and that hotel looks absolutely beautiful!!
Thank you! Have you been to a health/blogging conference before?
I haven’t! I was considering going to the blend retreat, but I’m a little nervous and I don’t know if I can justify the expense just yet. They look like so much fun though!
Ohhhh I wanted to go to that one as well! I agree about the money – I’d have to see it as just a vacation and in no way could I justify it as work related. May still be worth it though!
I love that other peoples good news can make someone else feel good. I feel good hearing about this!
Well I think this has to be my favorite comment thus far! :D It’s an incredible thing to be happy at other peoples good fortune. Sending you much positivity today for such a generous thought!
Very sweet of you! I did have a fantastic day, I will give you a bit of credit for that :)
I will take that credit :)
I LOVE Portland, and I am still thinking about going to FitBloggin but won’t know for a little while. You must eat at Clyde Common (local menu changes daily) and Beaker and Flask (best meal I had in my life). Get drinks at Veritable Quandary – Judson, bartender and friend works there.
Congrats on speaking – very exciting! :)
Yay!! Ty so much for the suggestions! I need to start a list up of the places I must try to see while I’m there. I really hope I can swing at least 1 full day outside the conference to visit places. Let me know if you are able to make it so I can look out for you!
Congrats! Very exciting! I am a true believer in the Law of Attraction–looks like you are attracting your goals/vision. I am considering going to Fitbloggin–gotta see if it will fit in the budget with some other trips I want to take. :)
Omg it would be such a trip meeting you (and all my other online besties) in person! What other trips are you looking at for this year?
Nothing is set in stone but I turn 30 (eek!) this summer and I am wanting to plan an epic trip! Plus a couple of out of town races- Louisiana half this weekend, Austin full (insanity) in Feb, maybe San Fran and Chicago!
My 30th is right behind yours! I’ve always wanted to go to San Fran and Chicago. I had my hopes sent on doing my first full marathon in Oct for my BDay in Chattanooga but I may just do the half there and still check out the adorable city!
Keep me posted on Chattanooga! I’m in Memphis so it’s not too too far. Maybe we can meet up! :)
I would LOVE that! We could meet in the middle – I was already looking to spend at least one night in Nashville :)
I live just south of Nashville! Let me know if y’all come, I will hook you up with the most smokin hot Zumba class you ever stepped foot in, if ya want. :)
Awesome! Do you teach Zumba? I’ve never been to a class before!
Congrats!! That’s so awesome and I’m so happy for you. Great topic too. I wish that I could make it to Fibloggin’ this year. I had so much fun last year.
Thank you! I have a feeling HLS may be on the East Coast again this year, perhaps we’ll bump into each other there :)
what fun! my sister lives in Portland! maybe I can swing a trip up to visit her AND hang out at the conference!
You should! Their schedule of events is already up here: http://fitbloggin.com/schedule-f13/ and I anticiapte they’ll start announcing lecture/workshop topics soon!
Congrats! I went to Portland for my honeymoon in September and had a blast. We stayed at the Nines for a few nights and it was awesome!
Yay!! So excited to hear the hotel is as awesome as it looks :) Anything in particular I should try to do while I’m there?
Very exciting! Your workshop should be pretty cool. I’m hoping to be at Fitbloggin this year so maybe I’ll see you there. :)
That would be awesome! Do you live close or would you have to fly in?
That hotel decor is gorgeous! Congrats, I will vicariously through you. I can’t wait to read all about it!
I’ll definitely take good notes of the lectures I attend while I’m there to share all the info with everyone when I get back!
Congratulations! That is so exciting. Not sure yet if I will make it, but I really want to go. I also want to visit Portland. It is like heaven for vegans!
Honestly, I don’t think I could be more excited about it being hosted in any other city. Except Paris, or some other incredible international spot. I think I’m going to have a *really* hard time wanting to come home after being there for a while!
Ahhhhhhh! I’m so excited I can hardly contain myself. :) And I can’t wait to ask you all sorts of questions about your media kit. I’ve been having to hold back on emailing you about how you find sponsorships and partner with brands. So cool!
PLEASE go ahead and email me anything you’d like to know now! No since being my roomie if I can’t hook you up with some info before the conference starts ;)
I cannot wait to meet you in real life! We are going to ROCK Portland! ;)
Ahhhh omgomgomgomgomg I am so excited :D Will you be flying in/out thurs/sun? The flight schedule out of Pensacola is terrrrrible. I’m hoping to find some others who may be getting in Wed and/or leaving Mon.
Ahhhh congrats!!! That is SO AWESOME! Now I really really wanna go to Fit Bloggin!
You should!! It will be my first conference and I’m mostly excited to just meet everyone and see Portland!
