Plan With Me: Week 3 of Carb Cycling + a New Planner

Happy Sunday! My favorite day of the week. I’m always so productive on Sunday, and full of energy ready for a great week. This week I’m putting my usual planner aside and trying out this May Design book I bought a few weeks ago.

I’ve had a lifelong love affair with to do lists. When working a 9 to 5 my desk always had a few sticky notes all over it that I used as a brain dump to write down anything that came to mind that I needed to get done for the day. Since transitioning into working from home full-time over a year ago I have gotten out of the practice of making daily lists.

The May Designs book is originally set up to be a daily planner, but I covered up the ‘day’ label that was on the upper left with an ‘odds & ends’ sticker and am going to use this spread for the entire week. I love the graph paper on the left and think I’ll try out a hybrid version of bullet journaling with it.

Real talk: I just googled ‘bullet journaling basics” and lost an hour of my life. Holy new obsession.

Moving on.

I went to the store yesterday to pick up some groceries for the coming week. I’m starting into my third week of carb cycling! I still feel like this approach to eating and working out is really resonating with me. The daily variety makes it a fun challenge to come up with new meals that will fit my macros, and I’m noticing significant physical improvements already. For the longest time I’d always have to fight the urge not to dig into the sweets and snacks that Travis brought into the house. Now, I open the pantry door and don’t feel a twinge of desire to have any of them.

We stopped by the local co-op grocery store for the first time yesterday and I finally found purple sweet potatoes! I’ve seen people rave about them online for years but could never find them in Florida. I can’t wait to roast some up this week.

I’ll have to go back to the store early this week to get some tofu (they didn’t have any when we were there.) My meals for the week will be similar to last week:

Breakfast: oatmeal with peanut butter and hemp hearts, or scrambled eggs with Amy’s chili and vegan cheese

Lunch: Salad, hearty rice skillet, or baked tofu with veggies

Dinner: huge protein smoothie

Snacks: baked potato with peanut butter, Larabar, snap pea crisps and nuts

Today is feast day so we are going to go out to eat somewhere. We also want to go on a short hike so hopefully we can squeeze that in as well. Sunday is our ‘get shit done day’ around the house so we have a lot of things we hope to accomplish before the work week starts back up again.
