Rain, Running & other Random things

This past weekend Matt and I ate at one of our favorite restaurants: New Yorker Deli. With 93% of people saying the like it out of almost 500 ratings on urbanspoon you know it has to be good. They make the best mushroom bruschetta. Yes, mushroom. It is divine. I ordered a small house salad with cheese tortellini and Matt went with the classic spaghetti and meatballs. Their prices are low and I don’t think our bill there (including drinks) has ever been over $25. If you live in the area and haven’t checked it out  before, do so immediately.

Sunday we finally checked out the newly renovated Pensacola Library. I haven’t been to the library in over a year and, despite living across the street from it for a while, have never gone regularly. Unfortunately, I don’t feel safe going there alone as it seems to act as an unofficial headquarters for Pensacola’s homeless male population. Aside form that caveat, Matt and I both had a good time looking around and took home some books to keep us occupied in case the power went out due to Hurricane Isaac. We also swung by Target after for some last minute supplies (snack foods and nail polish). Priorities, people!

I usually pain my nails some obnoxious hot pink color but got inspired to do something different after browsing Pinterest for a while.

I’ve finally killed the Trail Mix Matt’s mom sent us home with from our trip to Las Cruces 2 weeks ago! The book on Religion I ordered off of half.com arrived and I’ve been reading through that now that I’ve got all this free time from classes being canceled until Thursday (which I think is utterly ridiculous).

This morning I promised Matt I’d let him sleep in since his work is closed today due to the storm. That meant as soon as he got up at 6:30 I started bugging him to go out on a jog with me. I figure we are going to be stuck inside all day so I wanted to get out of the house while we still could. As soon as we walked out the door we saw it was raining!

I decided to put on my big girl pants and we ran anyways. Running in the rain with tropical storm force winds makes you feel like a badass, just sayin.

We ended up having a pretty good run and almost beat our PR of 37:16!

I’m off to try and find something to occupy my time for the rest of the day. I anticipate massive amounts of Netflix, reading, eating and napping.

I don’t know if we’ll have power but my phone’s staying on the charger so if it does go out check me out on twitter where I’ll be updating as I can!

I love the nail colours! I want summer to stay so I can keep painting my nails bright colours!

And mushroom bruschetta?! How haven’t I had this before?!

And I JUST signed up for Netflix yesterday. I know, I’m so behind. It’s my new favourite thing to watch while I stretch and foam roll!

I haven’t had cable in 2 years and basically live off of Netflix and Hulu. If I can find a recipe similar to the mushroom bruchetta we had I will definitely post it!

It took me about 45 minutes to do my hands + feet … I have to go super slow or it looks like a spastic 5 year old did them!

Haha – I’m hoping any future children of mine love doing my nails, cleaning the house and cooking :)

I’m an absolute addict now. It’s such an easily justifiable splurge … less than $10 bucks and you’ve got an activity for the afternoon and gorgeous nails to keep you feeling pretty all week!

I think the coldest temperature we’ve run in was maybe in the 70’s?

      Gotta love Florida!

I use RunKeeper (http://runkeeper.com/home) I love it although I have found it to be inaccurate once or twice. But, for the price (Free) it’s great and way better than when we used to just count out our interval time in our heads and try to guess how far we’d gone!
