Random Acts of Kindness

July 5th, 2012 | Posted by Erica House in Crafts

Since I had the day off yesterday I debated on the best way to spend my time. I’ve been itching to craft lately so when I came across this project from Kindness Over Matter I knew I had to do it. I’ve been following her blog for years and have always loved the idea of random acts of kindness. Leaving inspirational messages for strangers to find, paying for someone’s coffee behind you in the line at Starbucks … you know, warm-fuzzy-feeling stuff.

This project was perfect since it went along well with the theme of freedom on the 4th of July. Some of the best things in life are free! Free hugs, kittens, smiles, and the hippie-dippiest of them all, love.

There is a great tutorial on the link above in Kindness Over Matters but the basic steps are shown below as well:

1. Assemble materials for the heart pins

2. {and the Bags!}

3. Glue scrapbook paper to pins

4. Cut out and use a nail file to smooth edges

5. Stamp the hearts and tags for your bag

6. Glue pin backs on

Then you can fill your bags with confetti (I made my own using a hole puncher and help from Matt and his strong-man-arms) and tie using ribbon or twine. I made 8 total so I’ll be dropping the off in random places around town. Made my first drop last night! I wonder if anyone who reads this will come across any.

Do something nice today!
