Whenever I travel I try to bring as much of my own food as possible. It helps keep travel expenses down and let’s me eat pretty healthy while away from home. Last weekend when I was in Savannah for FitBloggin I came with a huge cooler of my favorite snacks; yogurt, vegetable juices, and tons of protein bars. As a vegetarian I try to get as much of my protein from plant based sources as possible, but sometimes I’m so busy (or I’m traveling) and it’s just so much easier to bring along a bar! Plus, they are great for helping me satisfy my sweet tooth cravings!
While driving and in Savannah I must have had at least 5 or 6 protein bars in 4 days. I ran out of all of the high protein snacks I bought before I left so I was excited to swing by Walmart and pick up this new-to-me brand, Life Choice (and before you go be sure to print out this Life Choice Bars coupon!)
Since the suffocating Florida summer is in full force I wanted to think of a cooler (literally) way to have the protein bar. Enter: Super simple smoothie recipe!
- Life Choice peanut butter protein bar
- 3/4 cup milk of choice
- 1/2 frozen banana
- 2-3 ice cubes
I actually debated on adding some jelly to mine, just because. I think next time I will swirl a little raspberry jelly in before I drink it!
