Weekly Workout Wrap Up

October 19th, 2012 | Posted by Erica House in Fitness | Health

Given all the chaos that’s happened this week I’m happy to report my workouts stayed right on track! I actually added in a bit more yoga than normal and it was wonderful (and very necessary for the tension in my body.) My diet has been a little wacky and I’ve lost some weight that I’m not happy about but I’m looking forward to stocking up on groceries this weekend to try out some new recipes.

{Read my reviews of the DVD’s listed above here}

I have been sporting the necklaces mom got me for my birthday since receiving them Wednesday. I’m particularly drawn to the circle one – it’s kind of my mantra right now! Mom’s always know the perfect gift to get.

The other necklace she got is equally adorable – it says “My daughter” on the front and “always in my heart” on the back. Awwww.

Since I shared a vintage Halloween photo of myself last Friday I thought I should do the same this week. I was actually a witch for a few years (go figure) and I’m pretty sure my brother still dresses up as a TMNT every year ;)

I’m not sure what I’ll get myself into this weekend. When you don’t drink often it’s kind of hard to find things to do with other people that don’t involve alcohol. I see a lot of reading and watching netflix on my agenda – which I am so okay with! I’ve got some shopping to do to replace some art & furniture that will be leaving this weekend and I’m looking forward to rearranging the house to get some fresh energy circulating. Maybe I should go burn some sage in all of the rooms – isn’t that the herb your supposed to use? I’d probably just end up setting off the smoke alarm.

Hope you all have a beautiful weekend!

  • You have such a sweet mom!! Love those two necklaces. And that picture of Halloween? Epic. I’m sure I could dig up some great old Halloween pictures of me and my brother as well – all very tragic. Hope you have a great weekend, sounds like you need (and DESERVE) one!

I think every picture of me before the age of…now, was an epic tragedy. I went through that ‘awkward’ phase from about age 5 to 25! I hope you have a great weekend as well :)

  • You are so right – MOm’s always know just what to get — your new bling is awesome and exactly what you needed :) I LOVE the circle one … talk about having inspiration with you at all times!! Wish we were closer, I’d totally go shopping and watch movies with you.. and show you what a full TCBY cup REALLY looks like :) Happy weekend!

  • I was a witch like 4 years in a row ! haha great picture. And beautiful necklaces!

I wonder why I loved it so much – maybe because it was one of the most ‘common’ halloween images for girls. Boys could be Action figures or super heros … we had witches or princesses!

I don’t think I ever dressed up as a witch. My favorite custom was dressing up as an old lady with pillows for my stomach and butt.

What is that show on the TV? I always like looking the the background of photos for the little details and seeing TV shows on I find interesting. Weird???

As not a drinker myself it’s kinda annoying not going out with friends when that is all they want to do. Oh well – good thing I like staying home anyways.

Your old lady costume sounds fantastic! I didn’t grow up around any of my grandparents so I had virtually zero contact with old ladies as a child or I may have wanted to dress one up as one as well. I have no idea what the tv show is in the background – I’ve been trying to figure it out as well! I’ll ask my Mom and see if she may know.

  • Looks like a great week! Mine started off well with a 5k race on Sunday coming in with my best time so far of 33:57! But we had to stand around in the rain first for an hour, so I ended up being off sick on Monday and cancelling my PT session at the gym. Managed to make it in on Wednesday and this morning, and last night I climbed up the CN Tower to raise money for the United Way! 1776 steps, 144 floors. ouch!

    • Erica House says:

144 FLOORS?!?! That’s insane! I still remember trying to run up and down the stairs at a hotel in NYC for exercise while on vacation and I seriously almost blacked out by floor 10. Congrats on your time on the 5k!

Good job with your workouts! I know it can be hard to eat at times like this, just do the best you can. Do your parents live close? I think a dinner at Mom’s could be in order this weekend?! Love the Believe necklace, do you know if she found it on Etsy?

I’ve burnt the sage at my store a few years ago when I finally let an employee go that had created bad energy. There is a sacred process for it and yes, it could set off smoke detectors! Maybe once the furniture and art is gone, open your doors and windows, let the old energy out, then clean and rearrange everything!

Thankfully my stomach started feeling normal again yesterday so my appetite is back and begging me to make up for the first few days of not eating much! Mom just told me she got the necklaces as Kohls – we both love to shop there :)
I’ll try airing out the place and looking for some sage sticks at our local health food store (I’ll deactivate the smoke alarm first, just in case!)

  • That is an awesome necklace and gift! I love finding gifts like that for friends and family!

    • Erica House says:

I’m terrible at buying gifts for people. Unless I know 110% that they will love something I always end up going with gift cards (which are nearly as fun!) But, Mom is great at it :)

  • Gotta love the Halloween pic! Miss those type of costumes. And that “Believe in Yourself” necklace is adorable. I need one, too. ;) Happy Belated Birthday. And you and me, girl… we will find ourselves in incredibly happy soon. It’s in the stars. Keep your chin up. And thank you for the comment on my previous blog post. ;)

Thank you for stopping by! Your comment reminds me of one of my favorite Oscar Wilde quotes – “All of us are in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars.” We can only go up!
